Un laboratoire d’imagerie THz et de spectroscopie a été créée au sein de l’UMI Georgia Tech CNRS. Ce laboratoire utilisera des techniques de résolution sub-millimetrique pour caractériser des polymères, céramiques et diélectriques sous forme de couches, de composites ou de structures fabriquées. On March 13, it was announced that Abdallah Ougazzaden, director of GTL was named the recipient of the 2013 Steven A. Denning Faculty Award for Global Engagement. He was given this award because of the breadth and depth of his global activities, and by his tireless efforts to develop and promote GT in France and abroad.
Laurent Capolungo, professor of mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech-Lorraine received the 2013 Lockheed Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Award. In an effort to understand the growth mechanics and improve the material quality of InGaN alloys, a key material in light-emitting diodes (LEDs), laser diodes (LDs), and solar cells, the team of Dr. Ougazzaden in collaboration with Gilles Patriache’s team ( LPN-CNRS) developed a new method that quantifies the chemical information “coded” in HAADF-STEM images and produces precise mappings of the chemical composition of compound semiconductor alloys at the nanometer scale.
